The “New Kids On The Block”

It’s not very often to see new rollerbladers pop up in the Utah scene these days. The last few years its almost been non existent, but every now and then some new people come to town and kind of shake things up. Recently we have had four new guys move to our wonderful city and all them very eager to get things moving around here. Ive had the pleasure of knowing all of them before they made the move here. And now all of them are showing us SLC guys how it’s done. So lets take a quick moment to either introduce or reintroduce you to the “New Kids On The Block”

Tell me the reason why you chose to live in SLC or come back?

I chose to move back to SLC because I wanted to get a job doing something with my bachelor’s degree away from Saint George. I also love being around the mountains and the snow more than anything else. Snowboarding season is possibly my favorite season.

How does SLC compare to where you lived before?

Salt Lake City is a lot more busy than St. George. I didn’t like the slowness and the almost boring city. I like the upbeat and lively city.

What are your hopes for the blade scene in Salt Lake for time you will be living here?

I hope to get some sort of feature within the next couple of years in a Salt Lake video.

Tell me the reason why you chose to live in SLC?

I chose to live in SLC to go to school there, and just to make a change from St. George.

How does SLC compare to where you lived before?

There is a lot more people and a lot more things to do up here compared to St. George. The weather is a little better in St. George I think though.

What are your hopes for the blade scene in Salt Lake for time you will be living here?

I hope the scene gets bigger and more people from out of state make trips to visit and skate. It would also be cool to see some new little kid bladers.

Harbor was too cool to answer these questions so I would guess his answers are similar to his twin brothers Duran. Either way Harbor is a killer on the blades and also a lady killer too.

Tell me the reason why you chose to live in SLC or in your case come back?

Pretty much 2-3 weeks after I moved to Texas I knew that I would come back to Salt Lake. It took quite a bit longer than I wanted but I now that I’m here I’m stoked, although I do miss Austin sometimes. The reason I moved back is primarily because my girlfriend had moved back a year before I did for a job opportunity. Other main reasons included my blade friends here and of course skiing.

How does SLC compare to where you lived before?

Salt Lake City and Austin are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Wether it be climate, vibe, political views, or people, it’s pretty night and day. I personally love the skate scene here much better than Austins. Although the whole Texas scene is super strong, I feel like the Salt Lake scene is really tight not. There aren’t any clique’s and everyone is super supportive of each other in both skating and after skating activities.

What are your hopes for the blade scene in Salt Lake for time you will be living here?

My hope for the blade scene here is that we keep having as much fun as we already have been. A lot of us are getting older and have more adult life styles now so it’s nice that we can all still make time to go have some fun. I’d like to see some more youth on skates and am hoping of the new Nitro Games that are going to be hosted in Salt Lake City will bring some great attention to our sport. Remember, fun first!
